Job description

For bulb production, De Groot en Slot contracts growers in French départements 28 and 45. Your role will be to assist the crop manager in supporting growers during the crop season and with the storage and shipping of the bulbs.

From March to September, much of the work will take place out in the field and involve travel to monitor the crops. You will update an online database in which field observations are recorded. You will also be responsible for grading trial fields.

September and October are very busy, because each batch of onions must undergo quality control prior to shipping. We ship several thousand tonnes of onions during this period. You will be responsible for some of the quality controls.

From October to February, we plan the next sowings (mapping out the plots, soil sampling, apportioning areas), organise the breeding work with the breeders and continue monitoring onions in storage.

The administrative work will be done from your home on a teleworking basis.

Your profile

  • BTSA (Advanced Agricultural Technician Certificate) or higher agricultural qualification.

  • You are able to live in the Centre region (département 45).

  • You are meticulous, highly self-motivated and flexible with very good communication skills.

  • You are able to demonstrate your experience in cultivation techniques and have an affinity for vegetable production or horticulture.

  • You hold a B driving licence and enjoy travelling for your work (you will occasionally have to stay overnight in a hotel).

  • You are fluent in French and English (or are willing to learn the language).

  • Experience abroad would be an advantage.

Your terms of employment

  • Fixed-term contract for 1 year, leading to a permanent contract

  • Full time, 10 to 20% teleworking and 80 to 90% travel
